My arms relaxed measured on the high end of their size large, but since I keep my elbows bent when running, my arms would be slightly flexed, so I bought the XL. I probably would have still been okay with the large size, but I expect them to grow during the hypertrophy phase of my training, and the XL gives plenty of space to grow into while still being comfortable to wear with 16″ arms.
The material used is a light, elastic fabric that is soft to touch and didn’t feel abrasive while running and still allowed the area underneath the material to breath and wick sweat.
I use a Google Pixel 2 with a hard insulated Otter Box case. It takes a bit of adjusting to get the phone to fit in the sleeve so that the length of the phone aligns with the length of the arm, and I don’t think I could zip it closed if the phone was aligned with the width of the arm instead. It takes about 25 seconds to casually place the phone into the sleeve, adjust it so that it is aligned properly, and slide it high enough up my arm so that it will stay. Once the phone is in the sleeve, the screen cannot be seen. This is something to consider for those who use their phone screens to start and stop their running or workout times as you will likely need to remove the sleeve and take out the phone before pausing the stopwatch on the phone.
The slot that the phone fits in to would also comfortably fit several cards (credit, debit, ID) and some single keys as well if you wanted to bring those with you on a run or around the gym.
Because I got the XL sized sleeve, I need to make sure that the sleeve is placed high on my arm in order for it to stay put on my arm throughout a run. The first time I went out, it was placed on my lower-mid bicep, and the sleeve slid down over the duration of a half mile. This wasn’t too bad, and I wouldn’t mind too much if I had to run longer with this. When I placed the sleeve higher on my arm near the top of my bicep and shoulder, the sleeve stayed in place without issue. If I had ordered a size smaller, I doubt this would even have been an issue.
Note that I ONLY use this sleeve for running. I do not do calisthenics and lifting while wearing this sleeve since I have blue tooth head phones and will leave my phone on the ground next to me or in my pocket while lifting or doing calisthenics. The sleeve feels like it would be fine for regular weight lifting, but I bet it would slide down the arm or shift quite a bit if doing high intensity workouts or exercises like burpees, cleans, box jumps, skipping, etc.
I am happy with this product and am looking forward to having my phone and music with me on my runs again.
